Autumn, and especially this Autumn, is a time of gathering to celebrate traditions. Cavan is widely regarded as Irelands finest fishing destination. Cavan’s 365 lakes and the river Erne and Shannon are famous for coarse and pike fishing. Cavan County Museum is a must visit with its WW1 Trench Experience, 1916 Rising Experience, Peace Garden, shop, cafe, playground, and Nun’s Walk. The Moth Studio and Gallery in Cavan town hosts weekly drop-in classes and an open studio as well as occasional workshops in painting and drawing. Derryham Stables provide horse riding lessons, breaking and schooling of horses and livery. Mount Prospect Stables, is a small family-run horse and pony farm that prides itself on the ‘personal touch’, providing riding lessons, pony camps, countryside rides, livery, and arena hire. Riversdale Stables provide pony and horse-riding lessons for children and adults. They offer hacking on quiet country roads. They also organise camps and birthday parties. Hose riding is a perfect activity as a family, for a group of friends or for a romantic day out!
