Ballyjamesduff

What the town offers

This is Ballyjamesduff

Ballyjamesduff is located in the East of County Cavan, in Ireland’s Ancient East. A fmous town, Ballyjamesduff is referenced in the Percy French song “Come back Paddy Reilly to Ballyjamesduff”, which was written about a local man from the area who emigrated.
The lakeside four-star Crover House Hotel and golf course is located only 8KM away. The town is the home to Cavan County Museum and the World War 1 Trench Experience – Cavan’s biggest tourist attraction. Located in the former Convent of St Clare, the award-winning Museum collects, conserves and displays the material heritage and culture of County Cavan. The museum also hosts a year-round programme of events, readings, performances and workshops and also hosts the only replica WW1 trench of its kind in Ireland or the UK. There is a café, shop, children’s playground on site and a 1km ‘Nun’s walk’.
There are other activities available in the vicinity including Deerpark Forest in Virginia, the Knights and Conquests Visitor Centre in Granard, Lough Crew in Oldcastle and nearby Lough Sheelin brown trout fishery which is famous for game fishing.
