Choose a canoe, kayak or open boat trip on the pristine waters of Lough Oughter to the West of Cavan town. Paddle out to Clogh Oughter Castle, a round tower keep and the last outpost in the region to fall to Cromwell’s armies in 1653. Let your guide regale you with tales of local history and derring-do.
Cavan Canoeing also offers other fun activities such as paddle boarding, bike tours, horse trekking and all manner of on-the-water sports. Canoes, kayaks and bikes are alos available to rent at Killykeen Forest Park, just outside Cavan town.
Cavan Canoe Centre is located between Butlersbridge and Killeshandra just off the N3. The canoe centre is located in the heart of the Lough Erne river system and stunning Lough Oughter, with the historic Clough Oughter Castle as a backdrop. You can take a guided trail or go solo with a designated route given to you by the Centre. Kayak and canoe hire also available. Summer camps take place throughout the summer.
