
Take a wander through the eons of time at Drumlane Abbey, located just outside the village of Milltown, and overlooking picturesque Garfinny Lough.
Drumlane Abbey, Church and Round Tower are believed to have been founded by St. Colmcille and date from 555AD . St. Mogue is also connected with Drumlane and other sites in the vicinity such as St. Mogue’s Island in Templeport, near the village of Bawnboy. The Round Tower at Drumlane is the only one of its kind remaining in the diocese of Kilmore. Towers are of Christian and ecclesiastical origin and were erected at various periods between the 5th and 13th centuries. Drumlane Abbey is located in the heart of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark , which has recently gained UNESCO status.
