Fire performer and storyteller, Aidan Ring, (Aodhán O’Rinn), aka Tornaido, is bringing Scéalta Ón Sorn – Stories from the Stove – to saunas and scenic locations around the country. He will be performing at Outdoor Sauna & Leisure, Killeshandra, on Saturday night, 26th September at 8.30pm as part of a nationwide tour.

Combining traditional Celtic mythological stories with spectacular fire manipulation, Scéalta Ón Sorn offers audiences a unique immersive experience in which ancient tales are brought to life through movement, music, fire and storytelling.

Scéalta Ón Sorn has been specifically created for sauna audiences and connects today’s growing sauna culture and the ancient Irish sweat house – teach allais – tradition.

Aidan’s performances combine storytelling with an array of specialist fire props, including staff, dragon staff, chain staff, poi, fire diablo and fire sword. Each prop brings a different visual language to the story. Flaming wheels spin through the darkness on the dragon staff, chain staff moves in sweeping, lasso-like patterns, while poi, diabolo and fire sword add further layers of movement and spectacle.

Aidan uses the movement, rhythm and flow of each fire-lit prop as part of the storytelling itself, rather than employing fire simply as a visual backdrop typical of fireside storytelling sessions. Atmospheric Celtic music, lanterns and the surrounding landscape add to the experience, creating an evocative setting in which Ireland’s mythology can be experienced rather than simply recounted.
