Quiet Tours running this April at Marble Arch Caves

In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day on Tuesday 2nd April the Marble Arch Caves will run “Quiet Tours” throughout the month of April. People can feel, see and experience the world differently, and for some people, a visit to our tourist attraction may feel a bit overwhelming. “Quiet Tours” will be offered to make the show cave and visitor centre more accessible for those with sensory needs, the calmer environment and friendly welcoming staff will help you enjoy your day with more comfort and confidence.

Our quiet cave tours are offered on selected dates and times, which can be booked online via or website Click Here

What does our Quiet Cave Tour mean
1. Our tour guide will be more aware of different visitor needs.
2.We will reduce the group size on the cave tour (smaller tour group).
3. Cave Tour duration 60 minutes
4. Our tour will be slower paced tour, reduced tour content allowing visitors more time to take in the cave and its environment.
5. Dimmed lighting.

Sensory Awareness of Show Cave
1. The temperature in the show cave is a constant 9 to 10 degrees.
2. The air is the cave is fresh, but can smell of water and rock.
3. Electrical lighting is used throughout the show cave, there are two types of lighting used, downward lights for showing the pathways and spot lights on selected cave formations.
4. The noise in the show cave is from the rivers and water dripping. The river flows linear to the footpath for the majority of the cave tour.

Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre

The Quiet Tours are the first tour running on the day. The Visitor Centre will be quieter during this time however we shall take measures to:

1.Reducing controllable noise.
2. Making our Customer Service Team aware of different visitor needs.
3. Giving visitors more processing time, they may need a minute to respond to a question.
4. Have a quiet area or room available if needed.
