Apple Day- Harvest Fest September 20th 2025
Rowan Wellness & Garden’s are delighted to announce their first ever Apple Day Harvest Festival. Set in Ireland’s Ancient Heartlands, and surrounded by rolling rural drumlins and beautiful lakes, this day-long festival is a warm invitation to you to join them, to celebrate and enjoy our bountiful autumn harvest and the Autumn Equinox.
Apples have long been a part of Irish history and culture, whether it is in eating them fresh, baking delicious desserts, fermenting to make vinegars, fire cider, or alcohols, and more recently to create tasty syrups, treacle’s and many more innovative delights. They are undoubtedly one of the most versatile and successful fruits to grow in Ireland. And yet we import approximately 95% of our apples from the UK, France and as far away as New-Zealand and South Africa, even in autumn!
You will learn from, Phil Wheal, senior horticulture tutor at the Organic Centre, Rossinver, Co Leitrim, and one of the leading fruit and orchard gardening experts in Ireland, all about the rich orchard history that Ireland has. Phil will display an array of apple varieties grown in Ireland, including a range of heirloom and heritage apples. He will also talk about the exciting potential and challenges involved in creating your own apple orchard, in your own gardens and farms, as a hobby or as a potential business.
On Sept 20th, you will enjoy some delicious local and seasonal food, and taste lots of award winning apple-based products from leading Irish producers. There will be an apple pressing demonstration, apple dessert making, apple juice and apple cider-making demo and tastings, and lots lots more.
